CELEBRATION OF AMERICA’S 250th AT GWYNN’S ISLAND

America is celebrating its 250th Anniversary this year, and all are invited to take part in the commemorative activities. The Gwynn’s Island Festival will launch the Mathews 250th Celebration. Come celebrate, connect, and enjoy a milestone year for our nation, county, and island. Gwynn’s Island welcomes you! 

GWYNN’S ISLAND CHICKEN DINNER kicks off the weekend with a delicious community tradition on Friday, June 26th. Enjoy a full chicken dinner with all your favorite sides, prepared with island care. Drive Thru pickup begins at 4:30 PM Dine in from 5:00–7:00 PM Tickets: $18 at the door.

And then on Saturday, June 27th it's the Gwynn's Island Festival from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. FREE ADMISSION!

This longstanding community tradition offers an excellent opportunity to experience and appreciate the culture of Gwynn’s Island and celebrate the America’s 250th Anniversary. • Handmade crafts: jewelry, woodwork, paintings, photography, pottery & more • Live music throughout the day • Food vendors offering festival favorites • Fun Zone with midway games and activities for all ages • Special attractions celebrating America’s 250th Anniversary Events at Gwynn’s Island Civic Center 1996 Old Ferry Road Gwynn, VA 23066 Proceeds benefit the Civic League and Museum.

The Abingdon Ruritan Club

The Abingdon Ruritan Club is hosting a free community shred event on Saturday, June 13th, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the club on Guinea Road in Bena.

All Saints Anglican Church Patriotic Day Songs

 
 
When was the last time you could sing your heart out for the love of your country?
Come out to All Saints Anglican Church, located at 48 New Street in Saluda on Friday, June 26th a 5 p.m. and join them for Patriotic Day Songs and Prayer for out Nation.
Dr. Cheryl Davis, director of the annual Christmas Chesapeake Chorale, is the organist for All Saints and will lead in singing all our favorite patriotic songs. Local musicians will also perform. Bishop Jeff Johnson will say a prayer for our nation's peace and prosperity. The event is free and open to the public. For more information, call Susan at 804-824-8602.
